There are fifteen food and beverage units up for grabs, ten retail units, one airport lounge, and eight travel service provider units available for businesses to bid for.

The tender process is open from 17th January through to 29th January, with new businesses able to set up shop soon after.

By the next peak season, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport could look completely different for tourists.

As it stands, duty-free shopping at Bali Airport is pretty good. There is a solid mix of international brands and high-end Indonesian brands selling those final high-quality souvenirs for tourists who have left gift buying to the absolute last minute.

Speciality Balinese products available at Bali Airport include everything from island-grown coffee to exquisite textiles, dried fruits, trinkets, and more.

Tourists are pretty spoilt for choice as it is when it comes to food and emergency outlets at Bali Airport.

One of the most popular food venues at the international terminal is the Hard Rock Cafe Bali. Located at International Gate 6, the restaurant serves up hearty Hard Rock classics perfect for travelers to feel full before boarding a long-haul flight.

For those wanting a final nasi goreng, nasi campur or mie goreng Made’s Warung is the place to go. Perfectly placed at the end of the shopping zone, world-famous Made’s is the much-loved final pit-stop of frequent visitors to Bali.

Officials at Bali Airport are on a mission to ensure that the passenger experience is comfortable and efficient. Despite winning servers prestigious awards in 2023, Bali Airport was listed amongst the worst international airports in the world by the top passenger rights organization AirHelp. However, airport management refuted the assessment results.

Not only are new shops and restaurants coming to Bali Airport in 2024, but the traveler experience will be improving across the board.

New auto-gates will be installed across the international arrivals and departures terminals.

The new auto-gates will be available for tourists who have used the online application system to process their visas.

The auto-gates are not replacing staffed counters, which are set to always be fully staffed at peak times.

In light of the ever-increasing number of tourists passing through Bali Airport, officials are calling on tourists to not only apply for their visa on arrival before touching down on the island but also to pay for their tourist tax before landing.

The new Bali Tourism Levy will be introduced on 14th February, 2024, and will cost IDR 150,000 per person. The fee can be paid online prior to arrival in Bali and at the airport, too.

Officials are encouraging tourists to pay online before traveling to Bali in order to speed up the arrival process.

In a move that may prove frustrating to tourists, the visa on arrival and the Bali tourism levy must be paid for online on two different websites.

Still, the extra hassle of visiting two different websites from the comfort of your home will be far easier and quicker than risking the potential queues at Bali Airport on arrival.

The Bali Tourism Tax must be paid for at https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/, and the e-visa must be applied for at https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/.

Many travelers have noted that both sites display an error message when using some VPNs and occasionally on mobile.

The Department of Immigration has warned tourists not to use any third-party visa application sites for the tourist e-visa on arrival as there are several scam websites live online.
